A homeless man in Escambia County, Florida, survived after being dumped into a garbage truck’s compactor during a routine pickup back in May, 2023. A neighbor heard screams and called 911, and dispatch alerted the trash company.
The driver stopped at a nearby gas station and confirmed someone was inside. Fire services rushed in to save the man from the compactor to avoid furthering his injuries. The compactor had already activated and injured the man, who was taken to a hospital.
